David came to Ann Arbor from Flint in 1968, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1973. He earned his MD from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1975. Following his General Surgery training at the University of Michigan Medical Center, he completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Chicago in 1982. Since then, David has been involved in resident teaching as an Assistant Professor in Surgery at Temple Surgery, Staff Surgeon in the Davies Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship in San Francisco, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Surgery at the University of Michigan.

David started his practice at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1987 and today serves as Staff Surgeon and Section Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery. He is also a partner in the Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery based there.
David, a proud University of Michigan alumnus, chose to return to Ann Arbor to raise his family because of the diversity of ideas and people that the community embraces. His children have attended St. Thomas and Ann Arbor Pioneer High Schools.
