As Vice President Credit Administrator, Derek is responsible for loan quality and is actively involved in the oversight of all lending portfolios at Ann Arbor State Bank. In this position Derek establishes credit policy, coordinates credit training programs and manages the credit approval process.

Derek joined Ann Arbor State Bank in 2008 from First Republic Bank in San Francisco where he served as Senior Credit Analyst on a regional team in charge of developing and maintaining new and existing client relationships.
Originally from the Bay Area, this is the second de novo bank that Derek has been a part of. He was an original employee that opened New Resource Bank in San Francisco, a community bank specializing in “green” industry, including clean technologies, renewable energy, alternative fuels and organics. Derek served as the Senior Credit Analyst for the bank's lending portfolio and also managed the Residential Solar Finance Program. At NRB Derek helped develop, implement and manage both the residential and commercial solar loan programs.
Prior to New Resource Bank, Derek managed a loan portfolio of more than $150 million at Greater Bay Bank in Walnut Creek, California. His banking and finance career also includes experience at Wells Fargo Bank and Institutional Trading at JP Morgan.
Derek graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a Minor in Business Administration. He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife and their two children.
