When Branch Manager Lara Conley walked into the new branch of the Ann Arbor State Bank at 611 N. Wisner Street, she noticed the stark walls. She needed something to enhance the banks motto, “The Personal Bank.” And, she needed it quick. The branch was holding an open house in just a few days. She called the JCAA, and the JCAA delivered. Julie Highlen offered several pieces of art which were hung a few hours before the open house. With the hanging of Julie’s art, a fledgling agreement was established.
The art of a JCAA artist will be featured each month. The art may be purchased by the public with all proceeds going to the artist. For its part the bank will have art on display on its walls, with a change of art every month. The agreement will continue to be effective as long as both parties agree to continue. It is an example of a win – win, for both the A2SB and the JCAA. If you would like to have your art displayed, contact any JCAA Board member. A schedule is being prepared for future months. And, if you’re driving by, stop and go into the bank and say, “Hello” to Ms. Conley and the staff. JCAA extends a special thanks to the Ann Arbor State Bank for its interest in art in the Jackson community
